Welcome back to We Happy Few, everybody. With the game in its FULL release, I am prepared to take it on once again in this second attempt at a proper series on the game.

In particular, there are two MASSIVE improvements that I've seen. 1: The game does a better job of telling you where to go and what to do (so much so that the old objective system seems laughable by comparison). 2: Hunger and thirst is not something that you need to constantly worry about.

Hunger and thirst mechanics in games are very powerful for creating a good experience, but ONLY when they are used under the right circumstances. In games like Minecraft and Subnautica, it makes perfect sense because the games emphasize survival. In games like Bioshock or Prey, however, a hunger and thirst system is a problem because the games have a heavy emphasis on exploration; therefore, if you have to constantly dig up food and water to keep yourself alive, it forces the player to deviate from their objective, and the mechanics become an annoying distraction.

In the OLD WHF especially, a big problem I had was that by the time I had found out where to go, I had already looted and used all of the food, so I would inevitably die of starvation. The good news is that the full release of the game seems to have fixed BOTH of these problems, which means that I should be able to enjoy the game more than ever before!

So THANK YOU for watching this first episode of We Happy Few!
