On addition of conc. \( \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{SO}_{4} \) to a chloride salt, colourless fumes are evolved but in case of iodide salt, violet fumes come out. This is because
(i) \( \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{SO}_{4} \) reduces \( \mathrm{HI} \) to \( \mathrm{I}_{2} \)
(ii) \( \mathrm{HI} \) is of violet colour
\( \mathrm{P} \)
W
(iii) \( \mathrm{HI} \) gets oxidised to \( \mathrm{I}_{2} \)
(iv) \( \mathrm{HI} \) changes to \( \mathrm{HIO}_{3} \)
