Onboard the last ever D Stock passenger service - Upminster to Ealing Broadway #CatchTheD
Wow. What a day I had on the tube up in Upminster and then down in Ealing! I was so proud that I was able to film the moment that the last ever D Stock in passenger service terminated at Upminster as well as be on the last ever D Stock journey in passenger service from Upminster to Ealing Broadway! Throughout the ride, announcements were said over the PA system that passengers onboard were lucky to be on the last ever D Stock journey, as well as CSAs on platforms informing passengers that this train was the last ever D Stock stopping here in passenger service. The train was jam-packed full of train enthusiasts, including Geoff Marshall, who I managed to speak to and get a photo with! At one point, our train was so delayed (ours was timetabled) that we had to wait in the West Ham Sidings to let others pass - apparently only two trains a day go into the Sidings whilst in passenger service - Hammersmith and City Line trains, so that moment was also rare. A TfL official was also onboard our train selling exclusive D Stock badges for £5!
I hope you enjoy the video, come back in a few years and this video will be so nostalgic and will bring back memories! We will all miss this unique type of sub-surface stock that has been the D78 stock, serving passengers from 1980 up until 2017. This video is 53 minutes long so although I filmed in 1080p, I had to upload in 360p. There will be a link here once my original footage gets uploaded to Google Photos.
