I remember seeing these as a toddler- yes, as a toddler. Even then I was fixated on these little productions and visual grabbers. Of course, I also loved the NBC Peacock "In Color" bumpers but something about WGN's animations were even more eye-grabbing to me. In the first one, I love the how the "9" "earases" itself backwards while you see the color leaves appear and then, plain and simple, "COLOR" appears in the middle of the color leaves. The music is so jazzy, brassy and upbeat and everything ties in well together.
I think the second one used to scare me just a bit (remember, I was only around 2 or so) because the music sounded just a bit intense! Still, I love the animation that is done here and how the world WGN TELEVISION spread outward from the middle.
I have to believe this was one of the things that got me so interested in graphic design.
