One Shot | Elden Ring Stealth Playthrough | Part Seventeen
On every playthrough, I've been surprised at how high the damage gets.
"Oh, you playing the game wrong this isn't Dark Souls III! You have to find openings in the middle of the bosses' attack strings and use jump/charged heavies to create your own opening." Ah, yes, which is why most enemies either have too little health to make staggering relevant, or are slow enough that you can exchange R1 spam, for R2 spam. But what of those enemies with good health that aren't slow enough to suffer R2 spam? They have fun, interesting attacks that force you to stay away from them for extended periods of time!
"Uhm, you had to memorize attack patterns in previous games! The delayed attacks prevent you from just dodging whenever the boss twitches!" Right, because trial, error, and memorization is better than reacting to well-telegraphed yet difficult to dodge attacks? As for memorization, at most it's really just noting that a specific attack is delayed or remembering to dodge the opposite direction of the swipe. And on dishonest attacks, the consequences aren't nearly as severe.
I still really like Elden Ring, I just think Dark Souls III (and Bloodborne, to a lesser extent) has vastly superior bosses.
