Samsung is nearing the completion of its rollout for the One UI 8 update, which is based on Android 16, having already updated over two dozen compatible Galaxy devices.
The latest recipients in Europe are the popular mid-range models, the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33, both of which launched with Android 12. For these specific devices, One UI 8/Android 16 marks their final major OS update, as they were guaranteed four years of updates. With the current deployment concluding, Samsung is set to shift its focus to the next iteration, One UI 8.5.
While not a major Android version jump, One UI 8.5 is expected to bring significant changes, including UI design enhancements, updates to native Samsung apps and the lock screen, new AI features, and expanded customization options. This subsequent update, scheduled for release around January alongside the Galaxy S26 series, will be available for all devices already running One UI 8, including the recently updated A53 and A33.
