The Malice Infusion System in Onimusha: Way of the Sword makes the game world and its inhabitants more dangerous as Malice accumulates in an area. This leads to stronger, mutated enemies, unpredictable NPC behavior, and intensified environmental hazards, requiring the player to purify corrupted zones using Oni shrines to restore stability and progress.

A new system where malice accumulates in the environment and affects enemies, the protagonist, and the world itself, requiring players to strategically purify areas.

Enemies, known as Genma, become more powerful and dangerous as they mutate under the influence of Malice.

NPCs in affected areas may exhibit unpredictable or hostile behavior due to the pervasive Malice.

The primary way to combat the Malice is by purifying corrupted zones using special Oni shrines found throughout the game world.

The Malice Infusion System adds a layer of urgency to exploration, as players must manage the spread of Malice and seek out purification points.

Players will encounter intensified environmental traps and dangers that they must navigate.

Players need to strategically decide when and where to purify zones to weaken enemy forces and make areas safer for exploration.
