0What happens when what you want doesn't exist? You build it yourself! enrgeeman's computer setup is unorthodox and complicated, and so is routing the audio for all his computers to a single set of headphones and speakers. He guides us through what it took to build an appropriate (if not perfect!) system
Why all the controls? Because pre-attenuation is needed to let the computer volumes be at 100% without causing distortion in mixer with its fixed gain. This is because Windows, and applications can sometimes "randomly" make the volume loud, and going from about 30% to 100% would scare the crap out of him. This lets him use full range of the mixer faders without distortion and normalize all of the inputs.
