Despite the worries of many higher ups at the Walt Disney Company, the studio release their cherished classic Cinderella to Home Video to try and steal the Home Video sales away from other films such as The Land Before Time and the Wizard of Oz. Cinderella sold an astonishing 11 million copies before returning to the Disney Vault in the Spring of 1990 along with The Rescuers, setting the stage for what Disney hopes would be an even more lucrative 1990 Home Video Market dominated by the coming release of Pinocchio and the coming theatrical release of The Little Mermaid.
