Two Ace Combat games, in two different universes, are set in 2019. We'll be following the events of both as they happen, to the day and hour.
Description below.

►NEXT MISSION

►Mission 12
►STONEHENGE DEFENSIVE

There's not a single Ace Combat fan on Earth who didn't beam at the sight of that title card. You cheeky sods, Project Aces. Going back to Stonehenge 15 years later, with a similar mission title and same mission number as in AC04, this time to defend and fire the one turret we spared because it was out of commission anyway, surrounded by the wrecks *we* destroyed, to shoot down a massive aerial warship by punching through it's impenetrable active protection system WITH A GIANT FREAKING RAILGUN. I fancy myself a creative person, but this is a cooler mission concept than I could ever come up with. Badass on its own, striking major nostalgia chords on ever loyal fan, and the perfect integration of story and gameplay. All topped off by, possibly, the crowning moment of this game.

You know what, I'll risk saying it: as far as single events go, this is the crowning moment of Ace Combat. And you know I do not say that lightly.

Ok, the mission itself isn't perfect. The wave attacks are enough to keep you on your toes but involve more flying around than shooting - a few more enemies in each wave and it'd hit the spot. Part of this is due to your allies - this is one exception where they're not just useful, but extremely aggressive, on the ground and in the air. There's a few strange spawn triggers (the 37/Ty/117 squadrons depend on score per minute), and the drones, well, they're as random as always.

But in this instance I can excuse all that. Context aside, it'd be a decent mission regardless. With it... well, if you're in Ace Combat for the storytelling, AC7 might be flawed, but this is your jam. And mine.

Goddamn.
