Opinion : The Rift, The Touch - VR as it is Today.

In my opinion the often said "wait for a higher resolution headset" is both somewhat wise - they will advance quickly due to the state of the tech - but that isn't the problem. Well, it is, but that is less of an issue to the future of VR.
The problem is movement and integration.
Some games just don't work well in VR, or are not made better by it. Story driven third person RPG for example.... sure it could be done, but would I want it? Ehhh. I'd rather get on with the story.
In other words : the type of experiences that can be created are limited. Not everything will work or be made better by VR. That will take time for the developers to figure out, and is the real problem with VR currently.
Yes, the screen door effect is there, but it's not THAT annoying. Rather, the god rays are the annoying guys - imagine smudged glasses.
And you may need glasses. Focal distance is about 5 feet, so it will depend on how good your vision is at 5 feet. Yes, a device for nerds and geeks that isn't the most compatible with glasses.... derp.
But when it's working right, it's awesome. Flight sims and racing sims take on a whole new depth, almost like a light bulb going on that yes, this is how this all works.
Ping Pong is enjoyable. :D
The 3D nature, the depth perception, the real sense of scale - they go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Would I recommend it? Yes... if you are into seated games.
