The Caldera is a level that can look overwhelming until you learn how to barricade and then you are mostly fine. I use a few techniques to speed things up, but you will want to use more barricades to take things easier, especially without DLC.

If you are a Sorc you might want to try using ice vents instead of tar. Without DLC you will probably need a crossbow with more stun and Flame Bracers. Good luck to you guys if you don't have these items, you will need it.
