Origami Jumping Frog, Step by Step Tutorial
6This video is a step-by-step on how to make an origami frog out of any size of paper. First, I should say I am not by any means an expert at origami. In fact, I only know how to make two things; a frog and a swan. The swan is a bit hard to remember, but for some reason, origami frogs have stuck with me for decades. Once I had kids and showed them I could do this, it became a very popular trick. You can really make them out of anything, recipes, paper kids menus, whatever you’ve got handy. The main goal is just to get the paper into a square shape.
The video shows how to do it, first with a prepared square of paper, then with an irregular size so I can demonstrate my paper tearing method. Here are the steps, time indexed if that helps anyone:
01:13 Fold the square in half.
01:26 Fold from a top corner down to the opposite side.
01:39 Fold from the other top corner down to the opposite side.
02:02 Push the middle of your folds towards each other, forming a triangle at the top. This is the trickiest move in this frog process I think.
02:35 Fold the left little pointy triangle towards the top, forming a leg (it’s easier to watch this in action than read about it)
02:50 Do the same for the right point/triangle.
03:09 Now fold the bottom edge upward (both sides), meeting where the front leg section was. Then do the same thing again.
03:41 Fold the sides of that bottom section towards the middle
04:05 Fold the bottom section we’ve been working on like an accordion
04:44 Now you’ve got a jumping frog!
