Original ukulele song about Puerto Rico
By: Autumn Leith

Lyrics

Puerto Rico is an archipelago.
And if you want to visit, the northeastern caribbean is where you want to go.
And the Taíno are the aboriginals who lived there long ago,
until Christopher Columbus arrived and screwed it up.

Puerto rico has mountains, lakes, rivers, and five islands on lock.
It lies between two tectonic plates which can make it shake and rock.
It has a long rainy season enhanced by the tropics and it can get pretty hot.
But if you are uncomfortable you can always swim in the Atlantic.

Many people of Puerto Rico arrived through immigration.
They introduced several new religions and all wish to rule the nation.
And even though everybody thinks they know of true salvation,
All Puerto Ricans fear earthquake vibration.

The US controlled Puerto Rico in the year 1901.
Everyone became a citizen in ‘17. Government had begun.
And their constitution was in ‘52, yeah equality seemed like fun.
There are 78 municipalities that I couldn’t fit in the song.

Sing with the Reina Mora.
Smell the Flor de Maga.
Feed los monos on your shoulder.

Listen to the Coquí chirp,
Or a Taíno story passed through word.
Submerse yourself in culture, art and music.

Where a careta at a carnival.
Taste a bit of cocina criolla.
Put your toes in the sand its very therapeutic.

In Puerto rico, in Puerto Rico.
Ve conmigo a Puerto Rico.
