Originals - Ground Dirt / Despair City / Obsidian Lance
0:00 Ground Dirt
3:06 Despair City
5:12 Obsidian Lance
I was originally inspired to write some originals by the Gametabs original composition contest a while back. These songs are designed as if they were video game music with the three pieces being a dungeon theme, town theme, and battle theme respectively.
Ground Dirt was made as a background music for a dungeon escape segment in which the player is traveling through dirt floored tunnels with occasional monsters to battle or run from.
I originally thought of Despair City as a theme for a bleak town which would be arrived at by escaping the dungeons beneath.
Obsidian Lance is sort of my attempt at a full orchestral battle theme, however my journey into concert band land had taken effect and so I figured I'd see if I could do a straightforward menacing concert band/wind ensemble video game battle theme. The name of this piece reflects the inspiration of melody from "Vesuvius" by Frank Ticheli which is an awesome piece.
The background picture is one I took in the Canadian Rockies a few years back.
