OSSC 1.6 ( Open Source Scan Converter ) Sega Saturn ( ypbpr - AV2) SFZ3 + Sonic Jam S3&K Test
So I stuck to my promiss and I got myself an OSSC. Shout out to the youtube channel My Life In Gaming for the reviews and frequent feedback and updates with the scaler I choose for my professional retro game captures. I got the OSSC 1.6 with the shared audio input jack for AV1 and AV2. Believe it or not I did not choose scart cables for the Sega Saturn output of the hardware. I actually used custom made component cables from an ebay seller who on occasion has one or 2 wires for sale with shipping included roughly around $60 out of japan. I did not like the HD Retrovision option where you have to buy the sega genesis component wire and then buy a sega saturn attachment? It did not make sence to me, especially considering the fact I want nothing to do with sega genesis hardware for a very long time. I have nothing but horror stories about the genesis and how it was built as well as its add ons. I played around with the settings prior before capture and as you can see, compared to my last youtube video titled " Sega Saturn Model 2 NA Elgato HD60 Test (SFZ3 / Sonic Jam S&K)
" - That was just the Elgato HD60 capturing the video through an audio video to HDMI scaler that I bought years ago at a retro gaming store that is no longer around. In this video you can see how clean cut and sharp the pixels are and also in the Sonic World portion of Sonic jam, just how bad the saturn really can't handle transparencies and also the considering fact that my television cannot do the 240p mistaking it for 480i trick so smoothly in between video's in the Sonic movie theater and Sonic and friend portrait house. But it is basically just like the last posted Saturn capture, just alot more time in 30 and 50 Man Survival in Zero 3 and alot more messing around in Sonic Jam. I must say I am really satisfied with my scaler purchase. I still think what I paid even after knocking the price down a bit, it was still rather more on the expensive side when it comes to options I could of taken. But last week I bought an $18 ypbpr to HDMI scaler and it was not sufficient enough to hold a signal to the television I make my captures on. After doing some research, for consoles such as the super nintendo, sega saturn, sony playstation, the dreamcast... you are better off putting your money up for something more along the lines of a tier of quality such as the OSSC, the framemister, the Retrotink. I was going to go with the retro tink for the composite S-Video out and component. But i figured all the consoles I love to play on either could output in component, scart and vga, and also an open option for DVI. I am going to have alot of fun making captures with my retro consoles with this device. It is well worth it. Sit back relax, peep my little tricks and antics I pull through on in Street Fighter Zero 3, messing around with Pseudo Saturn, and taking a trip down memory lane with Sonic Jam with both the 3D world, history, and my all time favorite Sonic game, Sonic 3 and Knuckles. SB over and out! Thank you. Capture device was Elgato HD60
