No device is safe :p osu! on all the things! No longer shall you have to deal with boring trips to your scanner to copy documents.

This is a PlusTek (A150) scanner. It runs Android and uses an app that requires superuser rights to handle scanning (EScan). Normally, you can't break-out of the scanner app, but if you go under network settings, you can use a USB keyboard and press a key combination (Alt + Esc) to go elsewhere.

I did this a while ago, but if I recall correctly, there is no Launcher. You have to press the key combo to go to the Browser and then from there, grab an apk from somewhere for a launcher (I use Apex). From there, you can also download any other apk and install it. I forget what the default background was, but I set it to the smoke live wallpaper.

This scanner also comes pre-rooted. I downloaded SuperSU in order to have more control. The EScan app runs with superuser rights.

There is no audio (the scanner itself doesn't have a speaker and USB speakers didn't work either). There could be a secret 3.5mm jack inside the scanner, or maybe other USB speakers or a DAC could work with some root tricks; this needs looked into later.

Theoretically, since this is an Android scanner that is rooted and has network access (Ethernet and WiFi), you could also use it to do more... malicious things, particularly in work environments (who would suspect a scanner :p).
