OSX can record full screen and partial screen movies out of the box with Quick Time Player. The only issue is that OSX doesn't include loop back recording, allowing the recording of audio that is coming through the speakers.

Using soundflower and some internal features of OSX one can get around this.
The aim is to install soundflower to give a virtual audio device, and using the Audio Midi Setup program to add a loop between the built in speakers and soundflower, via the multiple audio device feature. This allows you to make a link between the built in speakers and soundflower.

In System Preferences, under sound, select this device and it will then send sound to both the speakers and soundflower.

In quicktime, when you then make a recording, select the soundflower device used in the multiple audio device and you will get a copy of the sound that is coming from your speakers.

Pretty straight forward to use once it is initially setup, no need to pay $$$ for something you can do for free.
