veronica sits alone, powerless once more against the almighty heathers. jason 'soft precious boy, did no wrong uwu' dean comforts her and tells her that everything will be alright.

he just has to take care of a few things.

hey y'all! i know this must come as a complete surprise, but i decided to go back to doing heathers animatics for a bit. this one was highly requested, so enjoy!

some notes:
1. my art style has really changed from ~a year ago. i definitely think i improved, though i'm trying to focus more on movement and conveying emotion than strict detail like last time. i think veronica in particular looks the most different, since the way i draw hair now has really changed. also my facial anatomy was just a little off in general. i think there was too little above the eyes, too much below. that's why my eyebrows tend to go above hair. i only recently noticed that it looks kind of unnatural, so i do my best to give my characters some forehead space. one thing that hasn't changed is that i still use the same brushes, just a little bit adjusted. like the 'lively' brush i used for animatics back in the day was super spiky on all sides, i guess to give it an everywhere kind of look? but the thing is, my lines are so opaque and thick, so it just ends up looking messy. so my sketchy brushes are a little more straight line-focused. it still has the grainy texture, which i just have a soft spot for at this point. i know other artists are moving to the more smooth, blurred brush with sketchy detail so they can get the frames done faster, and honestly that's fine. i just have trouble with the 'messy' style, since i instinctively try to clean up all stray lines i see. i know, i must be a real productive animator. so i try to compromise with simple, quick art that still gets fixed up so each frame looks presentable. it helps for both conveying who the character is, what they're doing, and how they move in their environment. i hope i'm getting better at this? even though i'm not making many musical animatics anymore, i'm still trying to work on storyboarding even making my comedy stuff. like remember the pink diamond animatic? i was trying a lot of movement and new stuff in that, even if it's for a throwaway joke. school is still a time sponge so hopefully i'll have the chance to tackle some of my favorite musicals in the future. i still got more waitress content just... waiting for me! oh and spongebob? that soundtrack just slaps! not to mention musicals like legally blonde and little shop of horrors have killer music but very few animatics to show for it. thank you all again for being patient with me (especially on this video), i hope we could all have a quick laugh on this one.

thanks for -125K subscribers! i don't know how we got into the negatives but i'm sure we'll reach the 100K mark in no time :D
