Harvesting lettuce... This lettuce was donated to a ride for the cure fund raiser happening that day at the Grange. These lettuce plants were transplanted into the bed in May if I remember correctly. At about 3 months old in weather below 85 degrees they will start to bolt (produce seed) and taste bitter. You then pull the plant out and replace it with a plant in a 4" pot and can start harvesting in a week.
