Outriders (Xbox Series X) (Bro-Op Gaming w/ Azazel J & NUYORRRK13 - Part 40) The Ancient Obelisks
Check out part 40 of my gameplay walkthrough featuring the game Outriders! This game released on the Xbox Series X on April 1st, 2021. It was developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix.
In this video, the Outrider assists Dr. Zahedi with testing his theory regarding the Ancient Obelisks located within the ruins.
Outriders is a co-op shooter that is played through the third-person perspective and includes some RPG elements. The game takes place during the middle of the 21st century where Earth has become uninhabitable due to the many climate disasters and lack of resources. The human race has nowhere else to turn to so they end up having to look to space and beyond in order to find a new home. They end up discovering an Earth-like planet called Enoch and the major governments of Earth combine to form the Enoch Colonization Authority (ECA). Initial reports suggest that the planet is perfect for colonization and so two massive colony ships are built to house the people that will make the journey to Enoch. The journey takes approximately 80 years and soon after they land the colonists discover the Anomaly, a massive and deadly energy storm that takes the lives of many and seriously injures the main character, who is immediately placed into cryostasis. The Outrider wakes up 30 years later and discovers that the remaining humans are in the middle of a massive Civil War.
The game does a great job of melding many elements of different games (such as Destiny and Gears of War). The gameplay feels like you're playing Gears of War with some of the powers from Destiny. The player is able to create and customize their own character and eventually choose from four different classes: Devastator, Pyromancer, Technomancer and Trickster. The Devastator is the tank-type class that is perfect for getting up close and personal to protect their allies while also dealing out a good amount of damage. The Pyromancer is perfect for medium range and is all about conjuring various kinds of fire spells. The Technomancer is a long range support class that is perfect for people who love to use rifles while also giving the player some gadgets to use such as turrets. Finally, the Trickster is a close range ninja type class that allows the player to flank the enemy by teleporting behind them, dealing a massive amount of damage and being able to make it out safely (with some added abilities to slow down time). The gear system is also fairly similar to Destiny and does a good job of teaching the player which gear is an upgrade while also giving them the freedom to customize the gear to their playstyle.
