【Blind Run】【60hz】Well, here is a game I can't really wrap my head around just yet.

What we have is a Roguelite Action RPG with survival elements.

Yes, that's pretty much it.

The good news is, the game runs rock solid on my by now mediocre machine (6600K + 1060 6G). I don't remember any hitch. Just one graphical glitch later on with a clothes model, a missing texture that lets you look into the character's chest.

So, on one hand, it looks ugly, especially the faces, but on the other, it looks really beautiful, especially the lighting and environmental effects.

Also, on one hand, we have a very intricate system of babysitting the character (hunger, thirst, sleep, actual sicknesses to prep against) which reminds me of games like The Long Dark, but on the other, we have a very rudimentary enemy AI (they all gang up on you even though they are of different factions, and only attack each other when they forgot about you again)

This game is clearly meant to be restarted over and over again until you got the hang of it, because guess what, if you die, you have a chance to keep some of your stuff, or at least you have a high chance to not get your old stuff back. And most quests, including the very first one, are so tightly timed that you are prone to fail it.

So, why not just reset it to best conditions? Well, failure doesn't immediately mean you can't ever fix this. It just means you'll have to do other things, or choke up more money than initially agreed on, or simply recoup your losses by other means.

Your character is basically immortal, and I don't yet know if that is woven into the story, because s/he seems to be one of the few survivors of a shipwreck at the beginning.

I kind of like that, so I didn't restart right away at a certain point and tried to see what the game throws at me after it basically slaps me in the face.

What I don't like is the very clunky fighting mechanic. This seems to try to be somewhere between Witcher 1 and Dark Souls 2, without reaching either. I yet have to find like a dodge button for more fluid 'battle dancing'. Half the deaths are on me though, just fumbling with the different button mapping to other games.

Well, if you are interested in seeing me play this game, have some raw "streaming" style footage in two chunks. One here, the other today. Again, I'm not sure if I'll continue this, maybe I'll start anew, but what I saw so far, I actually liked. So... if you think you can do it better than me (which frankly isn't hard to pull off), by all means, pick this one up, and support the tiny dev team that worked hard on it - notably, and it's sad that that is needed to be mentioned these days, without crunch time.

What I'd change about the game: More and better character creation options. Better enemy AI - as in, wild animals wouldn't just ignore a bunch of bandits and all hunt me together. They should infight, so that I can drag some wolves into a group of bandits for some chaos, Far Cry style.

The rest, as much of a slap to the face it is when you play it, is actually fine. The punishment on death, the loss of options and ingame time, the loss of gear, etc. That all makes for an interesting game where you're not the coddled super hero player character, but have to actually look out for yourself. Maybe have a box somewhere, ideally don't lose your house, etc.
