In 1973, The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce's Film Institute at Chennai posted an advertisement for admissions to acting course and PNR was just 18, went to Chennai for admission in the same. But soon he realised that the minimum entry age is 21, dejected PNR sat in film chamber crying alone. Doondi senior film producer, spoke to him and advised him to meet P. Chandrashekar Reddy, a well-known Film director since he also hails from Nellore as PNR.
Taking Doondi 's advice PNR approached P. Chandrashekar Reddy and joined him as an assistant director for the film Kottha Kapuram starring Krishna S.V. Ranga Rao, Bharathi Gummadi and others.
