Paint.net: Creating a frame for thumbnails
How to create a frame for thumbnails in Paint.net:
Start with a blank image of 1280 by 720 pixels.
Use the paint bucket tool to fill the background with a solid color.
You can also use a gradient or a picture to make it more fancy.
Select a color that stands out clearly from the background.
Use the shape tool to draw a rounded rectangle.
If you want the frame to have a border, choose 'Filled Shape with Outline', otherwise choose 'Filled Shape'.
Adjust Brush size and Corner size to your liking and make sure the shape is centered.
Enabling the Rulers can be helpful.
Hit Finish when you're done.
Use the Magic Wand to select the filled shape.
Adjust the Tolerance if necessary.
Hit Delete and save the image in PNG or GIF format to retain transparency.
