stumbled across this cool feature when messing with xebuild: if you flash an image which has zeroed cpukey, and install a DVD drive which does not have correct DVDKey in keyvault, then boot disc recovery, it will get paired to the console automatically.

potential questions/answers

Q: So which drives can be paired?
A: Well, I only tried some liteon phat drives, one hitachi v79 (it is still in the devkit now) and a slim liteon (not sure which one, but came in slim E iirc). All got paired except slim drive (however from my experience you may need to try for a few times to pair a drive, so slim drives might be pairable as well.)

Q: What happens if you try to boot into XDK dashboard with zeropaired image?
A: Actually I forgot, I think you will either get E79, or console just stays at black screen. RGLoader shadowboot does the same, however disc recovery boots. Will update this answer later.

Q: Can this brick my console?
A: Yeah very likely, do this only if you have a good way of recovery.

Q: WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THIS? YOU ARE RUINING HISTORY etc etc?
A: Look, this is a thing I own, so I do whatever I want. Stuff I am doing to it is completely reversible so I see no problems in this.

Q: How do I do this myself?
A: Well first of all you will need a (Jasper) development (!) kit.
I won't go too much into detail, but basically you will need to have a dump of your nand (as backup + for xebuild), then download my prebuilt folder from here: https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/17489-xdk-jasper-xebuild.3116/ and use recovery.bat to create the "magic" image. I heavily recommend not doing this with builtin DVD drive because you will change its DVDKey as well. Also I don't recommend staying on kernel recovery makes, because at least for me, keyvault was fucked (see here: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/792488969866182657/793229513072836638/unknown.png)
