Okay,

So here's a band wagon I am happy to jump on. Welcome to our first impressions of the now infamous Palworld!

So we have ourselves a clone here, but also not.

Palworld borrows elements from a few different genres, but it uses them to good effect. We have the color cartoony creatures called Pals, obviously a rip on Pokemon but with a few tweaks. One of which that you can use their abilities as weapons (Foxsparks is a damn flamethrower) and you don't directly control them during battle.

The next part is the survival element, you have been dropped on this island in cave clothes with no real recollection of where you came from. It uses the systems seen heavily in Ark: Survival Evolved with a point system to unlock crafting options and other points to increase general character statistics.

The third one, is it has a heavily farming sim vibe to it, managing crops and resources so you can take care of your home, Pals, and self. Your Pals can even be brought in to manage the homestead for you while you venture out and obtain new creatures, weapons and resources.

The third and funniest, you get some shooter elements because you can arm your Pals to the teeth so you can take over the island by force. While we haven't reached Gun Craft quite yet we definitely are excited to make our way there.

So where do we stand on this? Hang on while I catch another sla- I mean Pal. Can never have enough Lamball's manning the artillery or building my endless supplies of imprisonmen- I mean Pal Spheres.

In all seriously, this gun is a lot of fun and I am really excited to see where it goes with the next little bit, as the game's current release is only in Preview. It's fun, looks pretty, the creatures are unique and cool (or downright derpy and adorable) and the game plays really smooth for early access.

Let's break it down.

What we Like:
The mix of genres, the smoothness of the early access gameplay, the creature designs, the survival elements jive well with what story elements we do have, Guns,

What we don't like:
Disclaimer: Some of this is said through the filter of knowing it's early access
The hit detection for cliffs needs a bit of improvement, Combat can become very chaotic and you will often get ganged up on by different Pals, Swimming could benefit from it's own resource pool, The world could use some population as it feels empty at times, More backstory to attach us to our character in a meaningful way.

The Score:
Easily an 8 out of 10, I really enjoyed what I played and was for the most part very relaxed. It is a great entry in the world of creature collector games and I hope they go on to do great things with it! -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/pidera_74
