Using the supplied 12-60mm kit lens. Most people buying or looking at the G7 and Canon 70D are probably mostly looking to do either YouTube or video work.
Autofocus is an important part of video work especially if you are a self shooter, the only thing making sure you are in focus is your camera, and relying on a tiny screen or viewfinder.
With that in mind I am trying to give potential purchasers a look at what the autofocus is like on the G7.
I have used three different focal lengths 12mm somewhere around 35mm and 60mm. And with fading light in front on the camera and various distractions in the garden such as two water sprinklers both providing a shimmer that can distract or confuse most cameras.
I have tried to mix up the focus areas so the camera doesn't "learn" or guess from previous patterns, where I am focusing next.
I personally think the G7 did really well and rarely hunted for a focus point for too long. The only problem I noticed was the parasol didn't focus at one point, that was a weird one as the contrast around it was quite vivid?
