Code.org is hosting a series of panel presentations on Black Leaders' voices in Computer Science (CS) Education throughout 2021. The themes of the panel presentations will each focus on a specific aspect of increasing representation of Black and African American teachers and students in the field of Computer Science Education.

Moderator:
Mrs. Shaina Glass is currently the Program Director of Technology Applications & STEM in Aldine Independent School District. She has been in education for the last 16 years, educating students and teachers alike. Shaina holds a Masters degree from Sam Houston State University in the field of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Technology. She is a graduate from Morgan State University, receiving a B.A. in Fine Arts. She currently is the President of CSTA Greater Houston as well as the Code.org Program Manager for our Regional Partner at Rice University School of Mathematics.
Panelists:
Martineus, a senior at Blanson CTE High School and is joined by Luniqua who is a 9th grade student at Davis 9th HS, Mr. Banks and Ms. Hammond are both CS teachers joining us from the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, TX.
Welcome Address:
Jackie Smalls, Code.org Chief Program Officer, has a rich background in STEM education, having served as the head of programs at Black Girls Code and previously running professional learning programs for Discovery Education, impacting tens of thousands of teachers and students. She served as an Environmental Scientist in the US Army, a school teacher, and one of the standards-writers on the Next Generation Science Standards. She resides in Southern Maryland only minutes from the District of Columbia and Virginia. Jackie leads the Code.org Education Programs Team.
