7Panorama Cotton (パノラマコットン) is a 1994 shoot-'em-up for the Sega Mega Drive developed by Success and published exclusively in Japan. Panorama Cotton raised the bar for what’s possible on the Mega Drive/Genesis consoles. The game’s more colorful pallet and the fresh, new gameplay design make every stage a treat to look at and fly through!
Story:
In the Cotton game series, the central plot revolves around magical candies called Willows. In the first installment, "Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams," the world falls into an endless night when an evil Demoness named Wool steals the seven Willows that bring light to the world. The Fairy Queen Velvet dispatches a fairy named Silk to retrieve the Willows, and with the help of Cotton, a witch who loves to eat Willows, they defeat Wool and restore light to the world.
In "Panorama Cotton," the story begins when Silk's sister Knit informs her that Queen Velvet is acting strangely, believing that she alone can save the world from chaos. The source of the Queen's odd behavior is traced back to a burnt Willow found in the castle garden. Monsters north of the kingdom have been burning Willows, and Silk decides to dispose of the burnt Willow to address the issue. However, Cotton appears and snatches the burnt Willow, expressing her determination to stop the burning of Willows. Silk and Cotton then embark on a new adventure to confront the threat to the magical candies and restore order to the world.
Gameplay:
Panorama Cotton is a pseudo-3D scrolling shooter reminiscent of Space Harrier, set in an anime-style fantasy world. Various levels scroll "into the screen", vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The player can move Cotton over the screen, shooting at oncoming enemies and avoiding obstacles on her way. Cotton can upgrade her weapon to higher levels as you advance in the game, and can also cast magical spells by collecting special items.
Why am I called Dad's Backlog?
Well the TLDR version is I've been playing video games since the Atari and Vic 20 days and over the years I've started many games and in most cases never finished them so I've made quite of collection of games I always wanted to finish but never found time to do it.
So I created this channel so my son and daughter can hopefully someday find this and watch Dad play through a lot of games he loved and maybe you all can share some of your memories of them too.
