Panzer Dragoon Remake Hard Mode Modern Controls No Continue. Personally, it's not that special because the game on its own is already too easy. In fact, this is one of the easiest fun game I've ever played. I do even think even in the classic controls the game is still easy.


As a young player that was born after the original game was released the remake is pretty much the most accessible way to play this game. Sure, I can just buy a Sega Saturn and the Remake's price is pretty steep, but it's very inconvenient and I don't have any Sega Saturn. So this remake is the way to go.


I don't know how the remake compares to the original, but the game is fun and works fine. I have lots of qualms though like no tutorials or even manuals (In-game manuals are enough) and no extra or arrange modes! I think the remake prioritizes preserving the original just too much without really adding its own personality. Perhaps this is due to me got pampered with shmup ports that add arrange modes and stuff, but the fact still stands. The original game mode and its stage design is fun, but when you've been trained with other newer shmups like Sin and Punishment and Star Fox Zero, this game is such a cake walk. The set pieces are exciting and the routes are varied, but there aren't many enemies and they don't spew much bullets for me to defend against or to evade from. I guess it was due to being focused as a tech demo or some sort and geared towards console gamers, but the old original Star Fox on the SNES was not this easy.


But this game paved the way further for the crazier titles like Sin and Punishment, so this game is still important. While fun, the game's easiness make the game not aging that well. As a remake, like, the modern controls is great because the reticle becomes independent from the dragon's movement, but while in classic controls the double button rapid is available, the double button rapid is disabled in modern controls. How annoying! And arrange mode or new contents! Please! And why cheat codes!? This is a 2019 game! Just give the options for cheats, don't make the players REQUIRE cheat codes to access the most basic of extras! This game is basically just a remastered port.


This game is worth your time, but don't expect too much for the challenge. I would say this is a good way for 1st time players to enjoy the old relic named Panzer Dragoon.
