Paper Mario Rando - Two Seeds At Once (One All Early Game, One All Late Game)
0A high concept Paper Mario Randomizer stream wherein I played two seeds of Paper Mario Randomizer, one all early game (ch 1-4) and the other all late game (ch 5-7), switching back and forth between them every four minutes with BizHawk Shuffler. The seeds are color coded such that the early game one is red in its tracker and the coloration of Mario & crew, whereas the other is blue. Also the early starts with ultra boots but no hammer, the late with ultra hammer but no boots. I did it that was because it sounded fun.
One small issue aside, things went pretty well! Everything came together nicely in the end as both seeds approached completion at around the same time. That said, due to an issue in configuration because of the way I had to hack the seed generator to make these specific seeds with these specific chapter requirements the late game seed was sadly unfinishable even after getting all three star spirits. My bad! Also the timer stopped updating around 20 minutes before the end - actual final time was 05:30:23. In retrospect that makes sense, I thought it was odd given the runtime of the stream! Ah well, important thing is all star spirits were collected across the two seeds and Bowser was defeated once. Good enough!
My settings for PM Randomizer tend towards the casual end. I like to start with full stats, power pluses and bump attack and mostly focus on running around finding the next key item that'll open the way forward. It's fun to me, and that's a great thing about Randomizers - with configuration you can make them into whatever you want.
