Paper Mario: Sticker Star ( REVIEW IN DESCRIPTION ) I Ep.36 I Bowser Stands No Chance
1HOW IT ALL STARTED
It all started when, well actually I am not very sure where it started, however I probably bought sticker star for the first time when I watched one color splash playthrough and enjoyed it. However, I quickly noticed this was a Wish version of color splash.
PROS
The game overall had some pretty creative concepts, and one of my favourite stickers that will most likely NEVER come back. I am of course talking about the Infinijump. I enjoyed the upgrading aspects that you could do early on in the game. The game also had a cool collecting aspect to it. Some things and stickers in this game, that we might never see again in another paper mario game.
CONS
It pains me to say this, even though this game was the first paper mario I played, this is a massive downgrade from Super Paper Mario. And I wish I was riding off of nostalgia when I say this but it truly was… Super Paper Mario made clever puzzles that while challenging very enjoyable to play. This game didn’t. This game made the ‘puzzles’ such as figuring out which things to use almost random at times. This to me, made a guide absolutely necessary when playing for an overall smooth playthrough. An example of this is the final bowser battle, grueling without a single hint. This wasn’t the case with SPM or PMCS where in SPM there were none of these items, just strategy, and in PMCS there was at least that garbage (literally) toad that gave you A HINT. Another massive thing, there was pratically no story. I don’t need to go into too much detail about this point since it is self explanatory. And now… on to the worst partner of all paper mario games I have played, Kersti. Just a reason you shouldn’t play this game is because of her. Kersti is very dreadful and gives you no meaningful hints, in stages and only describes what you can already see. Kersti is very detestable and to end it all of… she tries to help you at the end. Come on, like I even needed your help. The soundtrack also notably lacks quality songs. While some are nostalgic they are to be forgotten. While we are here let me name you my favorites, the 4th major boss fight soundtrack and the paratroopa one in the sphinx yoshi desert. I don’t remember the names, so I am sorry about that. As a last con, this game had no key feature (except for stickers) or collectible items, or saving toads, or any buddies to join your party as seen from older paper mario games, this was a big flaw.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
I just wanted to note that this is my opinion, but this game is a contender for worst of the series. I had to give it a 3/10 a lot of story improvement needed and lots of key features missing from this game seem from other games. A very disappointing game, but it can entertain at least.
