The curse is required to reach the thousand year door. Then the map reveals a location of an item known as the Crystal Star. We get a small tutorial as to what an audience does to help you gain star power and about matching 3 icons, here's what each will do:
3 mushrooms - full HP
3 flowers - full FP
3 stars - full star power
3 poison mushrooms - half HP (it's cut in half)
3 Shine Sprites - 100% restored
Sometimes you will ALWAYS get 3 in a row of an icon in some boss battles.
