Paper Mario TTYD Pre-Hooktail Pit of 100 Trials Run (Level 100 - BOSS)
Well, this was an embarrassing run of this boss. At any rate, you want to start this battle by Tattling and getting in as many Periled Multibonks as possible. Eventually, the battle will boil down to spamming Fire Drive/Piercing Blow to do damage and recover Star Power, then using Sweet Treat to recover for lost HP. Lucky Day is key either way, and wearing Unsimplifier is highly recommended for the extra Star Power (however, it makes Superguarding a whole ton more difficult!); under NO circumstances should you use Simplifier, as it doesn't make guards any easier (as the game floors the number of input frames you have in the timing formula), and it deprives you of some much needed Star Power.
Here are the minimum audience values needed for SP regeneration, assuming you're in Peril:
1/2 SP: 40, 31 with Unsimplifier
1 SP: 157, 124 with Unsimplifier
Where each Toad contributes 3 to the value, Dull Bones contribute 0, and all others contribute 1. This is why I had a lot of trouble here; even with the added SP from Unsimplifier, I needed 31 Boos in my audience to restore half my SP, and I spent most of the battle right on the borderline. At any rate, I managed to tough this out; usually, this battle isn't nearly this close, but Dull Bones sort of screwed me over. It's worth noting that Super Appealing with a Dull Bones audience still guarantees at least 1/2 SP, so it isn't impossible to win if you get all Dull Bones.
