Kerbal Space Program 1.0 has it's first post release patch, and parachutes got a big nerf and will disintegrate upon reentry heat. Here are the patch notes: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/content/337-KSP-1-0-1-Is-Up

There are other changes as well, including nice live heat gauges so you can check and see in what order your spaceship will experience unplanned premature dissembly. Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments.
