Parade Master seemed to be designed to fight a much quicker, swifter character. Now, I DID choose the strength build and it's meant to be the slowest out of the 3 builds or classes so I was expecting to be at a disadvantage when it comes to speed but the dodging relative to the actual bosses speed is ass. The way you fight the Parade Master is to let him get his combos off and attack right afterwards and then dodge away but the dodging doesn't extend enough in a lot of cases which makes the dodging inconsistent at times. Ultimately, I felt like I was fighting more with the controls than the actual boss, I didn't really feel like that with the Scrapped Watchman at the end of the demo.
Since I uploaded the fight in HDR, let me speak on it. The game seemed to have some Black Level Raise so the darkest areas of the game didn't look black, it looked grey so I tried to compensate it by turning down the βbrightnessβ setting by like 1 click. It made it look better but also introduced some Black Crush so it's not a perfect fix, they need to fix the HDR for the final game by adding a Maximum Luminance slider and completely remove the Black Level Raise.
I also noticed a lack of super bright things in the world. HDR becomes MORE impactful the brighter an object is when it gets contrasted with the darkest thing within the same scene so having Black Level Raise, then also having dimly lit specular highlight details, the HDR is WAAAY worse than what it can be right now.
This is the demo so hopefully they're able to fix the HDR for the launch.

The demo was decent, it kinda feels like the game is basically finished at this point. When I was watching the trailers, the game reminded me of Bloodborne but actually playing it... It's not as close to Bloodborne as I thought. It's a much slower game (strictly speaking about the movement).
If you go into the settings, go in the controller tab, there is a specific option for βleft stick sensitivityβ and setting it to 7 (or higher for other people) helped a little bit with the responsiveness but the movement of the game is ultimately still on the slower side of things, more Dark Souls than Bloodborne.
While playing the game, I was concerned with the combat, all I was doing was a regular attack, dodging, then attacking again and not much else but once I beat the demo, they show you a lot of the things you can unlock/upgrade - the Fable Arts, you can customise your own sword with certain stats, the Sekiro prosthetic arm can be changed for different weapons so the combat is gonna have a couple layers to it, it just started out very basic. You also had to sharpen your weapon on-the-go which is interesting.
I recently got the platinum for Thymesia and Lies of P kinda just feels like a more Dark Souls Thymesia to me but it looks next-gen in comparison.
I did have some weird frame-time issues, my TV showed that the frame rate was 60fps but the game felt like it was dipping below that but once I turned off the 120hz output on the PS5 (the game doesn't even go above 60fps anyway), that improved my experience.
The loading times were ASS... Hopefully they change that when the game releases because gawddamn man, trying to go back to the hotel to level up was a bitch. It felt like I was back on the PS4, what happened to βwith the power of the SSDβ π€£π€£π€£
When it comes to quests, I REALLY liked when you have an item for a particular questline, they show you in the bonfire or stargazer menu on which stargazer you need to go to, to complete the quest that you started. Again, I really liked that, it feels like they're taking advantage of the linearity of the game (a game being linear is never inherently a bad thing).
Despite Lies of P being a soulsbourne game, I was surprised with how cinematic some areas of the game was - one moment that really stood out is after you leave the Hotel for the 1st time, there's a suspended, derailed train with its headlights still turned on, as you walk down the path, someone randomly goes from one rooftop, jumps on the train then jumps to the other rooftop, the train sways, the light coming from the train sways as well, souls games generally lack cinematic moments like these (imo) because the world generally is of a much bigger size and scope.π₯π₯π₯
Apart from that, the storytelling was intriguing, the lore was interesting, the bosses were kinda mid to me but the final boss of the demo (the Scrapped Watchman) was pretty cool, the graphics (for a souls games) were decent (the HDR implementation is definitely broken in the game though, they need to fix that ASAP lool).
Ultimately, the game is looking promising.
