In this video, Paradroid 90, released in 1990 for the Atari ST by Hewson.
This is the porting of the original C-64 game Paradroid written by Andrew Braybrook and renamed Paradroid 90 for the Atari ST and Amiga versions.
The robots of various ships have been hijacked by unknown forces and have killed all the crews. Your goal is to infiltrate these ships and kill all rebel droid forces with the use of weapons or by linking with them.
Your prototype influence device allows you to control the hostile droids by "linking" with them and taking them over.
Taking over a droid is done via a mini-game in which each droid has one side of the screen, with a series of logic gates and circuits connected together. At the end of the mini-game the player must supply the most power to the circuits. If the mini-game ends in a draw, another one is played. If it ends with a defeat, both droids are destroyed.
It's easier to watch than to explain, so here you'll find loading screens and gameplay of a couple of decks of the first ship and various attempts of droid's taking over, until I ended up fleeing from certain death only to find one of the biggest droids that killed me with a one shot.
This game is one of the top 10 you can play on an Atari ST IMHO, graphically brilliant, good multi scrolling, each droid is well drawn. The audio is made with awesome sound fx. The playability is top even in year 2021, once you get accustomed to the controls and mini-game.
Give it a try it's worth.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.
