For a few years now I've had a 200mm axial fan unit suspended above my desk space with a combination of a car-interior HEPA filter + 600mm long carbon canister filter as my filtration unit for soldering/hotair fumes.

I have now decided I want to move the unit to the "unused" area under my workbench so that I have more room directly in front of me above the desk to move my screens and equipment ( especially as I move to 60fps gear and maybe bigger monitors ).

The most destructive part of this process is the requirement of cutting a suitable recess in to the back of the bench top in order to fit the 200mm diameter duct up from underneath.
