0High schooler Max Caulfield returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, to pursue an elite course for photography and witnesses the events leading up to the shooting and cold blooded murder of a girl within the school bathroom.
But when the chance arrival of a blue butterfly triggers Max's peculiar and confounding ability to rewind and alter the flow of time, she travels backward in order to stage a valiant rescue with unforeseen consequence.
As the two begin to connect more, Max discovers Chloe is an old childhood friend whom she had abandoned when she initially left Arcadia Bay, albeit with a more anarchistic punk appearance and as the two reconnect she's plagued by visions of a violent storm foretelling the eventual destruction of Arcadia Bay.
Pledging to aid Chloe with the use of her newfound power, Max and Chloe vow to track down and solve the mysterious disappearance of Chloe's long missing friend, Rachel Amber and save the coastal town of Arcadia Bay.
