Password Hell, Tech Hell, and the Smartphone Dependency Crisis
Internet and Smartphone addiction is a surface-level term that people use to try and describe the increasing dependency on mobile devices across broad society. At first, it was limited to teenagers and children being unable to look away from social media, but now companies that provide basic services are requiring the use of a mobile device.
Unfortunately, I am one of those people that has no such thing, as I currently cannot afford the income needed to activate it. I currently have no way to access my bank account due to the recent decision they made to do away with one-time passcodes, which was my only means of logging into the website to do my online banking. Because - you need a mobile device to receive these codes from now on.
I've had enough, and I'm doing what I can to push back against the increasing demands tech companies force on me through requiring the use of a mobile device.
