Pasta & Pastiche: The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
While the Super Mario Bros. Super Show is not the first animated adapation of the Super Mario Bros. franchise (that honour belongs to the Japan-only 1986 film Super Mario Bros.: PÄ«chi-hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen!), it was the first time the Mario Bros. went on television. Produced by DiC Entertainment and airing in 1989, it ran for 52 episodes, with 13 episodes devoted to the Legend of Zelda cartoon.
Despite its low budget and the dubious quality of its animation, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is fondly remembered by many. But does it still hold up today? In this video, I try to uncover the answer.
