25How to Know If You Have This Issue
First, if you’re experiencing frame drops or stuttering during fights, hit F1 in-game to enable the performance graph.
Then, go into Options, head to the Graphics tab, and make sure you’ve set Graph Details to "All Graphs."
Now, watch the performance graph in the top-right corner while you play. If the "Shader" graph is spiking like crazy when you run into monster packs, this fix is for you.
The Fix: Clearing Shader Cache and Updating Shader Cache Limit
Here’s what you need to do:
Clear the Shader Cache:
Go to %APPDATA%/Path of Exile 2/.
You’ll see folders starting with "ShaderCache" (either Vulkan or DirectX3D). Delete those folders.
Update Shader Cache Size (For NVIDIA Users):
Open the NVIDIA Control Panel (just search for it in your Windows start menu).
On the left, go to Manage 3D Settings.
Scroll down to Shader Cache Size and change it to 100 GB.
If you’re on AMD, you’ll need to do something similar using your own graphics software.
Update Windows Graphics Settings
Next, let’s tweak your graphics settings in Windows:
Search for Graphics Settings in the Windows search bar.
Under Graphics performance preference, set the dropdown to Desktop app.
Click Browse and find your Path of Exile 2 files. I did this for both PathOfExile.exe and PathOfExile_x64.exe.
Once added, click on each app and choose High Performance (it should show your graphics card). For me, it says "High performance" with my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super.
Final Step
Restart Path of Exile 2 (optional, but I recommend it) and… that’s it! You should notice way fewer FPS drops, if any at all.
