Path of Exile's patch 0.11.6 just went live and with it comes a number of new skill gems including the new Lightning Trap & Multiple Traps Support gem! In this video I go over these two new gems and give some analysis on their mechanics.

LIGHTNING TRAP
- when triggered shoots out 9 projectiles out in different directions
- Projectiles will pierce the mob that triggers the trap. All others don't pierce.
- Projectiles won't travel up hills.
- All projectiles crit if triggering mob is crit
- Projectiles travel out in a line a far distance. Distance can be extended with projectile speed modifiers.
- leveling gives increased base lightning damage
- quality gives 1% trap throwing speed per 2% quality
- Projectiles can be modified in all the typical projectile ways.
- Spell damage affects the damage of the projectiles as does general lightning damage mods.
- Pretty low base crit chance but crit and chance to shock seem effective.
- chance to shock will likely be rolled individually on each projectile and not like crit
Ideal support gems:
chain, fork. Lightning penetration. Multitrap. Faster projectiles.
LMP and GMP dont really seem worth it.

MULTIPLE TRAPS SUPPORT
- throws three traps instead of 1
- boosts max number of traps by three
- 40% LESS damage
- leveling gives added damage
- quality gives 1% trap trigger radius per 1% of quality
- throwing at a wall can cause only 1 or 2 traps to be thrown
- can increase or decrease the spacing of the traps
- Should work well with lightning trap and spells like summon skeleton or conversion trap.
