You won't be sent to Gray garrison if you exit out of char selection and can freely explore Kenabres without time limit now.
Only consequence is missing out on the few extra enemy spawns on Kenabres market, which considering ambush enemies don't award xp and ambush taking quite some time (over 20 minutes on solo unfair) is a very minor consequence.
