Pathfinder1e - Trials of Solaria - Broken Oaths - Session 11
Session 11
Picking up where we left off, the city is on fire (but in a bad way).
Some guards stop us in the middle of town. Apparently they have an arrest warrant for us, from the mayor. Well, we try to talk them down but they don't budge, so we attack.
In the end we give them a bunch of money so they work for us now, I guess. At least we take their weapons and have them go home.
Then we go back to the mint as we see the fires are dying down. Discuss for a bit what we're going to do. Plan is to safeguard the town's money in the Mint and get the people on our side. Ven will go talk to Hermand and adjust the play to make the Mayor the bad guy. Mikhael will spread rumours (see; THE TRUTH) about said evil Mayor. Eckhard will inform the Queen and organize things. Bix and Pauly will have lunch with Sarah.
The Queen is feeling overwhelmed because her citizens will literally side with the evil torturer usurper heretic guy over the heroes who literally saved their city 2 days ago. Makes sense tbh.
Eckhard tells her to woman the fuck up and do her damn job, but slightly more diplomatic than that.
Bix reassures Sarah that she's doing fine and also he kinda complains about how he doesn't wanna do any of this shit either but he's doing it 'cause he was dragged along.
Ven arrives at Hermand's shop and sees the Apostles have paid him a visit. Of course the world's worst diplomat is here to offer him (see: threaten him) to join the Arcanum. Well eventually she buggers off and Ven informs him of the changes to the play.
Mikhael spreads the rumours successfully. Eckhard gets on a soap box and yells at people about the law or something and how they should hate the Mayor. Varnholdians love having random intimidating people tell them what to do, so they eat it right up.
Anyway, a few days go by. The shadow returns and claims the world's worst diplomat is dead. They hand us over a golden mask as proof. Welp. This is awfully convenient, but we have no reason to question it. Whatever, we give them the book and walk on over to the Mayor's manor.
When we arrive, they seem to surrender with no resistance. The Mayor is bound up - apparently he went insane when the Apostle killed herself. We go look at the corpse and she does indeed appear dead. Though her gear is missing, apparently vanished just as she died. Suspicious, but whatever.
We burn the Apostle's body and cremate it, scattering the ashes. Looks like all is well in the world. Kind of. At least we won this fight! Or at least, our powerful ally won this fight for us. Still counts, booyah.
Session Highlights:
• We find out what the fuck the Mayor has been up to.
• We quickly scheme and decide on our plan to get the people on our side, while the Shadow takes care of the Apostle
• Apparently our scheming is so good that we just win the game. Coolio. Where to next, gang?
