Pathfinder1e - Trials of Solaria - Broken Oaths - Session 8

We pick up where we left off! Or, well, the next day. Everyone is hung-over - or at least everyone who is cool is hung-over.
Breakfast begins and eventually the many party-goers from last night begin dispersing. We decide that Ven, Eckhard, Bix and Pauly should go out and look for Dawkin, while Mikhael waits at the tavern.
Pauly and Bix find Dawkin's scent, though it smells... Off. Like there's something wrong with it. Bix is not sure what it is. They follow the trail outside varnhold, about 3 miles to the west, before heading northwards. They find their way outside an old mine. They hear some pacing and muttering from inside; "Where the shadows hide, the light is non-existent."
Inside, they find some very specific-looking footprints. They hear some shallow breathing and some distant wind howling. As they go deeper, they find some completely black, dessicated corpses. It seems like they've been killed by a Shadow, but their transformation into a shadow did not take place.
"What is it like, to walk among the living?" they hear a voice that sounds like Dawkin.
Well, there's a shadow right there and they break into combat!
Turns out shadow-possessed Dawkin is doing something weird involving rifts to the Shadow Plane. Venwyvar charges at him and tries to tackle him, rather ineffectually as one might expect. Dawkin plays the uno reverse card and grapples Ven by the neck, draining his strength.
Well, eventually they discover the topaz tied around his neck, although somehow corrupted, and they snap it off him (mostly by luck). As soon as that happens, the whole thing comes to a halt, Dawkin collapses.
The group heals up, and shakes him awake. He's having a bit of a panic attack, but they calm him down and escort him back to the city.

Mikhael tries to find some information on the Book of Shadows, but without much luck. They do discover that a tome related to the Plane of Shadows is missing from the library.
Ven pays a visit to G'odife and somehow convinces the acolytes to let her out of the antimagic cell?? She gives her a scroll of disguise self and they both disguise themselves into each other.
She also casts an enchantment on him and asks where the book of shadows is. Ven tells her that it's in the vault.
And so fake-Ven makes his way into the vault while fake-G'odife acts as innocent as she can. The other from upstairs hear some commotion in the vault and rush down, finding fake-Ven doing something with the book of shadows. They figure out it's actually G'odife pretty quick and continue attacking her, stealing the book away to stop whatever she's doing.
She says some nonsense about "stop you don't understand we need to send it back or he'll find it"
Anyway, she gets grappled and whatever was happening is quickly stopped.
We go back to the meeting room to talk about whatever just happened.
Under truth-telling magic, G'odife tells us about the book, about a ritual to absorb its power.
As we talk about stuff, people notice that there's an awful lot of silence outside. Like an actual Silence spell, it seems. Looks like we're under attack by Apostles. Some kinda super powerful Apostle makes his way to the vault, so we rush in. Thankfully Bix has been hoarding the book since Pauly grabbed it, so scary Apostle guy doesn't find it.
Venwyvar is having a moment as well, maybe some ex-Apostle PTSD.
Well the super scary Apostle dude decides to peace out without murdering all of us, so that's cool.
And just as things were kinda looking up, Bix decides to give the book to G'odife. And she goes full psycho evil mode.
