Paul Feig Interview Last Christmas
Paul Feig Interview Last Christmas
One of the many films to world premiere footage at this year’s Cinemacon was director Paul Feig’s Last Christmas. Working from a script by Emma Thompson and Bryonny Kimmings, Feig reunites with his A Simple Favor co-star Henry Golding and Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke in what he’s calling a “dramatic romantic comedy.” The film is about a young woman (Clarke) who works as an elf in a year-round London Christmas shop, where she meets a handsome young man and starts to fall for him (played by Golding, obviously). However, it’s possible there is more going on beneath the scenes…
While at the Awards show on the closing night of the convention, I got some time with Feig. He went into more detail about what the film is about, how the film will use a number of George Michael songs (including one or two unreleased tunes), how the film is a love letter to London, why he loves to test screen his movies early in the editing process, and a lot more. In addition, he talked about producing the Netflix movie Someone Great, what it’s about, and why he's come full circle having his first-look deal at Universal.
