Penguin Wars! remake for the PS4 Intro!
6Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! I am your host for this video, Professor Stu, and today is just the intro to the remake of perhaps my favorite game of all time: Penguin Wars!
I was shocked and amazed when I saw that this game had been released for the PS4 as I literally spent thousands of hours playing Penguin Wars! on the Gameboy throughout the 90's. Little did I know that there was an arcade version of the game as well!
So I did some research and it appears that "Giragira" cannot really be used as just a singular "gira" in Japanese and that it means to glare or to dazzle. I am going to go with them trying to mean that the whole point here is to dazzle and show up the competition!
This game, while I don't remember any real storyline to the original, has a bit more of a storyline as the little brother, Riley, (he is clearly NOT a girl penguin) is trying to impress his big bro Randy who does like most big brothers does at some point and kicks the little bro to the curb because he isn't cool enough.
Enter "giragira" and throwing bowling balls at other people? Whatever. The game works, is highly entertaining, and is much more difficult than one would think!
