To celebrate the release of SOMA (it's out today in case you didn't know!) I've got something a little different for you. I'm taking you back nearly 10 years to the birth of Friction Games and the start of their horror-filled career.

This is the original Tech-demo for Frictional Games' HLP engine, designed to showcase how it worked in a short demo-like game called Penumbra. A Tech-demo that became so popular that it spawned it's own fully fledged game of the same name. This them led to Amnesia and SOMA, not to mention many other weapon-less horror titles that have been inspired by it.

This people is where all the scares began...
