The canyon has an optional boss, where victory will allow you to enter a stone door and get a map for a Greenvale quest.

[ 13:36 ] Boss: Treant, Dryad, Naiad

This is quite a difficult fight, due to the two resummonable adds and their status effects. Note that Naiad will not regenerate MP, but Treant and Dryad will. This can make MP drain strategies really hard to pull off.

Once you're in Greenvale, be sure to turn in the map so you can get the Rosetta Stone.
